I am Daw Aye Khine Nu from Pauktaw Palaung Muslim village, Kyauktaw Township. I would like to share how I gained access to safe drinking water through the WASH program jointly implemented by Community Empowerment Education (CEE) and GraceWorks Myanmar (GWM).
In our village, we used to rely on creek and pond water for daily use. However, the water quality was poor, and many villagers suffered from water-borne diseases. Since my family started using clean water through the bio-sand filters introduced by the program, we no longer suffer from dysentery or diarrhoea. The water quality provided through this bio-sand filter (BSF) technology is much better.
Using the BSF has given us sustainable access to safe drinking water, which has greatly improved our health and reduced our medical expenses—especially those related to water-borne illnesses. I am so happy to have access to this safe drinking water, and I encourage my neighbours to use the filters with confidence. I also share the benefits of using bio-sand filters with my friends in neighbouring villages.
I am truly grateful to CEE and GWM for working together to bring this life-changing technology to our village.
