An estimated 1,000,000 children in Myanmar are orphans. Some lose their parents to fighting between Government Forces and insurgents, and others are placed in orphanages by their parents who can no longer afford to feed them. Many have become orphans since the devastating cyclone in May 2008.
With such an alarming number in need of care, it's not surprising that most Children's Homes are overcrowded and under funded.
Childrens Homes in Myanmar have very basic facilities. Several children sleep together on long raised platforms and up to 100 children share a single pit toilet.
It is painfully clear to any observer that Children's Homes in Myanmar are in desperate need of donations.
$12 will buy a mattress, pillow and blanket for one child.
$50 will pay for a bunk bed for two children.
$120 - $300 will allow Graceworks to install additional toilets in homes.
